- 2 tbsp of butter used in 1 tbsp quantities
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 an inch of ginger minced
- 1/4th of an onion chopped
Veggies:
- Chopped carrots
- Celery
- Basil
- Spring onions
- Cilantro
Protein used:
- Beef steak (But you can use whatever you have on hand or keep it vegetarian )
- 2 beaten eggs
Spices:
- Sesame seeds
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1/2 a chicken stock cube
Sauces:
- 1 tbsp each of soy sauce
- Dark soy sauce
- Oyster sauce
- Sambal olek (or any spicy sauce)
Other:
- 1.5 cups of boiled rice
- Best if rice is a day old
- 1 tsp of toasted sesame oil for fragrance
- Handful of chopped basil and cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a heavy bottomed wok add 1 tbsp of butter and olive oil over medium/high heat.
- Add in the garlic ginger and onions. Fry till fragrant and add in the veggies.
- Stir fry for 2 mins because you want them to remain crunchy. Move them to one side of the pan, add a touch more oil and the beaten eggs to scramble.
- Now add in all the sauces and spices and mix…. gently fold in the rice.
- Pour the sesame oil over the rice and the remaining tablespoon of butter.
- Serve hot with garnishes.
I love chili flakes and a big squeeze of lime juice with mine. Saath koi movie – it wasn’t top gun if you were wondering. Although I feel like I’m in the very silent minority that hasn’t seen this movie. Have you seen top gun? Do you think I’ll succumb and watch it this weekend? Lemme know.
